They will ring your bell first to see if you are home, and if you're not, they will leave a notice in your mailbox for you to go to the post office to pick up your mail.

The carrier would leave you a notice of the mail. That notice would advise you have to pick it up at your local post office.

Are you expecting a lot of mail? LOL

It's highly unusual for an individual to receive that kind of mail, certainly on a one time basis.

Generally businesses are the ones to get huge amounts of mail. And the ones who do have a shipping/receiving office that's designed to handle that kind of mail. And/or they have a caller number (a form of PO Box) at a Post Office.

They would either put a box in front of your doorstep with all the mail or just leave you a note saying to go and pick it up from the Post Office..
