I know that AC Slater is Hispanic, but seriously did anyone detect an accent back 10 years ago...so why now? My family speaks Spanish but after being here for decades, they still have an accent but it sounds nothing like Mario's.
What kind of accent is this?

Fake or Ligit?

How do I develop such an accent?

Fake...Lopez is from Hawaii! He used to be on a show when he was a kid, and he didn't have an accent! Perhaps ole' Slater is trying to cash in on his ethnic identity to help his sagging career! He's cute though, in a cookie cutter way....

It's funny you mention this. I was just saying the exact same thing to my husband the night Dancing With The Stars was on. I never noticed an accent before either. Even on his talk show he did a few years back (The Other Side I think it was called) Or on the show he does for Animal Planet. I don't know where it came from, unless he was changing his dialect in these shows. Dr. House in the show House (can't remember his real name) is British, I never knew it until a few months ago when he did an interview. He purposely speaks without his accent on the show.

I think he is cultivating it. He did not have it at all in Saved by the Bell.
