The best way to find something she'd like if she hasn't dropped any hints, is to break down and ask one of her best friends. Let the friend know it's for her birthday and you want to get her something special but are not sure. If she is a normal woman, then she has talked to her friends about what she'd absolutely love this year. (men just never realize women share just about everything, especially about what gifts they want, with their best friends). Good luck!

As a female it's often not the price tag but the thought that goes into it. So it's difficult to suggest something fab without knowing her but some ideas...
- a family portrait or photo if you have kids/parents
- a framed photo or picture of somewhere that is special to her or both of you - or a trip to that place.
- something she has expressed an interest in recently - listen carefully she may well be dropping hints
- or a day of doing something that she likes and you don't then she will know you really love her!!!

Fix her a romantic dinner at home with candle light and plenty of candles. Run her bath water with plenty of bubbles and rose petals and make sure that you have rose petals from the door to the bath tub. Give her the ultimate back rub and massage while she's taking her bath after that let her have her time while you go finish preparing her dinner and great wine. Buy her some sexy lingerie and have it waiting for her when she gets out. Turn some music on to set the mood and after dinner have a nice slow dance and after that handle your business like you never have before. Good Luck!

Shes 40,she wont be feeling easy,book a day pampering her self in spa,add a box of Ferror Roches chocolates too!

I would recommend a bottle of macallan's 12 year old single malt whisky and a really nice bowling ball.

The thing that will really touch your wife is your sincerity. It's the little bits and pieces that matters. Hand-made card with long,sweet words,a romantic outing etc.. =] Good luck !

I know what you should get the wife for her birthday, maybe a husband. You dont seem to care much because she is the wife, why not get her nothing thats all woman who are called the wife get anyway.
