What she is eating is no good at all. The baby needs good staff to 'extract' from mum and develop into a strong, physically and mentally healthy child. If mum eats crap=baby eats crap. This has been medically proven. There is no right or wrong in terms of how she should start and finish her day foodwise, but must ensure she eats meat, vegetables, fruit, drink milk and fruit juices as well as take folic acid on a daily basis. The food she is eating has no goodness in it, no nourishing/ nutricious value and she need to restrict these in her diet, for her own and her child's benefit. These contain high sugar and fat contents which can have an adverse effect on them both, not to mention her balooning in size (although this is not so much of a problem, she can lose it later). Crisps have high fat content which can push her cholesterol levels high, cause increased blood pressure, i.e pre-eclampsia in pregnant women, which can endanger her and the baby. So, everything in moderation, and more of the food I mentioned before.

I'm not an expert, but I do have two kids and one on the way.
With my first child, I ate nothing but chocolate and spicy foods. I gained 50 pounds, and had a 9 lb., 5 oz. baby girl.
With my second child, I lived on fast food and hot dogs. I gained 35 pounds. Baby girl weighed 6 lb., 8 oz.
Third baby on the way. To date I have gained 40 pounds, eat a lot of veggies and good for me stuff. I have 9 more weeks to go, and I'm looking forward to another healthy baby.
My doctor told me that anything a woman is craving, let her have it, unless it's dangerous, like potting soil or clay. There's nutrients in what she's eating that her body needs. And believe it or not, chocolate has been shown to be good for you.

Depends on how far along she is. During the first trimester many women have morning sickness. I just ate what I could keep down. It wasn't the best stuff, but I didn't want to starve myself and the thought of the healthy stuff made me sick.. If she feels fine a normal balanced diet is the best. Whole grain bread, dairy, meat, veggies and fruit. Treats are ok in moderation. Also, make sure she is taking her prenatal vitamin everyday. Good luck.

Many common natural remedies are claimed to have blood sugar lowering properties that make them useful for people with or at high risk of diabetes. Learn here https://tr.im/oZeG9
A number of clinical studies have been carried out in recent years that show potential links between herbal therapies and improved blood glucose control, which has led to an increase in people with diabetes using these more 'natural' ingredients to help manage their condition.

Try reading about the Brewer's Diet:
http://www.blueribbonbaby.org/ifyouarepregnant/1-introduction.shtml
However be very careful in how you treat her, she is likely very emotional and a couple of men got stabbed last year by their pregnant wives during arguments over food.
(And there is nothing wrong with cakes, crisps and chocolate and small amounts. In fact there was one study that linked consumption of chocolate during pregnancy to having a happier baby)

She should eat lean meats, green and yellow veggies and whole grains all the time. Keeps sweets to a minimum - an occasional treat. Not just when she's pregnant. So should you. That's a healthy way of eating for you both and if you raise your child eating this way, he/she won't have to try to break bad eating habits later in life. I am someone who knows how hard it is to break those habits.

It's best for pregnant moms to eat a well-balanced and varied diet in addition to taking a prenatal vitamin daily. The book What to Expect When You're Expecting has some good guidelines. As long as your wife is taking in calories and not losing weight, it's probably ok. HER health is what will be affected, not the baby's, since the baby takes whatever it needs from mom's fat stores. She needs a good diet to keep herself in good health and keep her energy up.
At the very least, get her to take a good quality prenatal vitamin daily as an "insurance policy." Good luck! Don't worry too much!

let her eat what she wants,if she's craving a certain food/s,then you've got no say in the matter, unless you want your head bitten off.would you like a set menu and mealtime everyday, without having a say in the matter? she's pregnant, let her enjoy it,as long as mum and baby are healthy, leave the poor woman alone, relax, and have a pickled onion dunked in curry with her once in a while.
