Longest-nile river-The Nile River in Egypt is the longest river. It's 4,145 miles (6,671 km) long and flows into the Mediterranean Sea.
Shortest-It is only 200 feet (61 meters) long and flows between Giant Springs and the Missouri River near Great Falls, Montana. There has been debate, though, about which river is really the shortest. The D River in Oregon has been measured as being only 120 ft (37 m) long. It connects Devil's Lake directly to the Pacific Ocean near Lincoln City. Because the D River flows into the ocean though, it's length changes according to the tide so has been measured at several different lengths.

The Nile is the longest river at 4160 miles long.

The shortest river is the Roe River near Great Falls Montana. Its length is 200 feet. It competes with a river in Oregon, the D River, which has been measured as short as 120 feet. However, the D River empties into the ocean, so its length is affected by tides.

It is dependent on who you ask ... and when it was measured.

The Nile (arguably the current title-holder) has been measured anywhere from 5,499km/3,437mi to 6,690km/4,180mi in length.

The next contender, the Amazon, has been measured anywhere from 6,259km/3,903mi and 6,712km/4,195mi long.

For shortest river, there's a contention as well: Oregon's D river is often listed as 120 feet (thereby being the shortest), but the Guiness Book of Records recognizes Montana's Roe River (at 200 feet) as the shortest.
