Yes it can be on the bidding side of things.

As with anything, exercise control and do your homework. I've seen so many people get caught up in the whole bidding thing. I 've also seen it in real auctions -- you know the ones you actually have to attend.

I've seen ebayers pay way more for something that they could've got at their local Walmart for a lot less (like a DVD or video game).

Do your homework for pricing, and make sure you really need it/want it, and that you can walk away from it if someone bids above your maximum price.

Hell, yeah. At first, you'll gladly bid a ridiculous amount of cash against somebody for crap you wouldn't give a second look to at a garage sale. The competition is the thing.

But after a few auctions, if you're lucky/smart, you'll start to use it for window shopping, mostly, and to see if anyone is selling that toy you loved as a kid, or toast with a picture of Jesus burned into it, etc. Looking can be as fun as buying.

I'm hooked on browsing, but am too jaded to buy much unless it's something discontinued, or the price is right. There are too many hucksters out there, anyhow.

If you really want something addictive, try toolhaus.org. It's a German site that will show you ONLY the neutral and bad feedback for an eBay user. 8)

While it's fun to bid, most of the stuff is really crap and the rating system is not real. Most items are not worth what is paid, even the new stuff. U have to be very savvy or you'll get smelly junk that is way not matching the pics. Huge buyer beware! If u like to throw good money away... bid away otherwise go to reputable vendor sites and buy with good return policies

Once u pay shipping and the lovely handling that is going to buy again... it's not really a deal. EVEN if the stuff is new.

Not physically! But there may be a mild psychological dependancy.

Trouble with it is that once you have done a few deals, and got a whole load of crap that doesn't work, you may be less addicted than you once thought!

No doubt in a few years there will be "eBay Annonymous" for all those bidding junkies!

82 purchases in 6 months, its addictive and can cost money. I've also sold over 40 things in 6 months too. It can be too addictive and can cause you to pay over the odds in my opinion

You already know the answer and are probably just looking for confirmation from others so as you do not feel like such a plonker for sitting in front of that screen bidding for a limited edition Backstreet boys (used) pair of boxers!

It is for me when I'm bored. Fortunately I've been way too busy lately to shop on eBay for hours at a time lately. (-:
