Sounds old, but learn to love the skin you are in. I pray that you begin to like what God gave you. Your skin should be well cared for so you look your best. Drink plenty of water daily, moisturize daily and make sure you get your rest. find the colors that highlight your look and wear them exclusively. Enjoy the complements and think of some that uplift your spirit so you can use them when referring to your self. I have been called 'pecan tan'. I like the sound of that. You can get a professional bleach job for your skin if you really are unhappy. Do not go as far as Mr. Jackson, you may regret it. Good luck.

If you're set on lightening your skin, you should definitely seek a professional and not an over-the-counter bleaching agent. You could go from having a nice, even skin tone, to having chemically damaged skin, which would NOT be attractive. Just take care of your skin and stay out of the sun, which would darken your skin further and also has its dangers (UV). Focus on keeping your skin looking healthy before you try to change its color and it won't matter what color it is.

Being dark is who you are. Why do you want to change
that? There is nothing wrong with being who you are.
Be proud of your dark skin instead of ashamed of it.
Your skin color represents your ancestry and a pride
your kinship has held with high esteem. Once you lighten
you skin tone you can't take it back. I developed a
disease that destroys the pigment in your skin. I will
forever be pale white. I am now at a higher risk for
skin cancer, I can never stay outside long because
I burn easily. In order to lighten your skin color you will have to destroy some of the pigment in your skin.

Why would you want to?

Let me suggest that you buy some gold and bronze glimmer powders, and use these to brush on your skin to make it glow.
