my mom wants a new monitor and someone is giving away a dell 16". will it work with her mac?

Don't listen to the advice about DVI output above. Every Mac comes with a DVI to VGA converter for just this reason. If the Dell is VGA you can use that to connect it and if it's not, then go straight DVI. Regardless, there's no reason the monitor wouldn't work.

no the connector on a mac is different than a pc so unless you have an adaptor it will not work
