This is because they were desinged to be able to take off and stay suspended in air while moving foward. if they all oversudden moved reverse they would crash since the wouldnt be able to force themselves up due to their bodies desing.
Make a paper plane then throw it foward. then try throwin it rear facing front (infact it will turn up then crash down due to the resistance of air to the bodys movement)

The plain cannot travel in reverse because it is not made to travel in reverse.

There is a plane that has fan type engine mounted in the back of the plain. It can fly because it is design that way.

DC-9 or MD-80 they have jets on the back of the plain on the tail.

I am enclosing my article on how plain can fly.

How can plain float on air?

It is the geometry of the plain, and the propeller or jet engine or rocket engine.

To make plain fly, air under the plain must support the plain, the pressure under the wing of the plain is more then pressure over the wing.

The propeller drives the air over and under the wing, by design air has to travel more distance over the wing then under the wing. If air coming out at pressure P and going over the wing is say 2p, then neglecting other losses P=2p, as the air from prop, touches the front wing tips. Say half travel over and half travels under.

The component that goes over the top of the wing will be at pressure p1, and other component will be p2, by design you will have p1
The same displacement of air sucks the plain forward.

There is no reverse gear. Forward or reverse matters, only on land. In air most of the Aircrafts have, maneuverability to change into, any direction.

the thing is tha aeroplane flies due the is shape and the net upwards force that is induced at certain speeds. although many people argue that after a point only speed is important, i find it impossible to acchieve lift off (take off) and normal flight condition when flying in reverse.

k ......................the wings of a plane are the things that cut the air to ensure going up with out problems such as violent winds pushing the plane down. The two big electric fans are what what make the plane go forward and up with the help of the wings. if the plane were to go backwards the wings wouldnt be able to take the winds and brake-off.

If we want we can make it by giving trust in opposite direction ..But when it flies in forward direction withthis altered design , think what wll happen ? First of all , what is need ? Is there any traffic jam in sky? Any narrow street ?

The technology using to fly the Air craft is using back wardthrust. that means the answer still in the question.

as u cant eat with leg they cant go reverse

actually they move 4ward coz of it turbo situated in the wings but if they move in opposite direction or we invert the wings {with turbe} than it is possible

it needs to fly INTO wind to keep thrusting forward
