Removing Biro marks on leather or vynal handbag etc.?

Question

Simply that. How do I get biro marks off leather or artificial leather handbags. They are a light beige colour and I've tried detergent, metho and some other products. Would Ajax ("Jiff") be too harsh? Welcome any ideas. Thanks.
