I have lived 15 years in China.
Cockroaches - NO
Dogs - its officially illegal, but ask any policeman and he will tell you where the nearest dog meat restaurant is....
Insects - Some, but usually for medicinal purposes.
Worms - YES. Deep fried, very delicious and nutritious!
Why or how do YOU make a difference in what protein is deemed eatable or not? Is Haggis more appetizing?

No, they don't call those ingredient "delicacy", they call them "nutrients". contained in the West, people (in many cases) eat purely 3 or 4 of the 1000's of fit for human consumption mammals, a number of the fish, 3 or 4 of the fowl species, and not one of the reptiles. Does that make experience? Western people typically shrink back on the idea of ingesting insects, too, which makes 0 experience in view that all of them do it already! All flour or vegetable products (in step with FDA guidelines etc) comprise "allowable ranges" of malicious program parts because that is not conceivable to reap something withou some insects getting into! Bon appetit! listed the following are the U. S. FDA allowable ranges for such issues as "insect dirt", "thrips", "mammalian excreta" and "rodent hairs":

In some places, yes, and in other parts of Asia too. For many years the Chinese had to eat what they could find, and didn't have the luxury of going to the supermarket and picking out food. The foods they could find became a part of their culture, and many are now considered delicacies.

Most of the Chinese don't.
Cantonese may eat anything with four legs except stools/chairs. But thing have changed. If you ask some Cantonese in the US, they might eat dog meat in the past, but will never eat dogs again.
"Eating dogs was a survival tactic in times of famine, and is frowned upon by many Chinese today." ---

They eat many kinds of insects, k-9's cats, rodents such as rats etc. Not in all parts of China and Asia, but in a lot of it, these delicacies are served in their restaurants.

Yes, and so do a lot of other nationalities. When there's a lot of people and not enough food you'll eat pretty much anything that won't kill you.
