After the first harvest was completed by the Plymouth colonists in 1621, Governor William Bradford proclaimed a day of thanksgiving and prayer, shared by all the colonists and neighboring Native Americans. The Pilgrims of Plymouth Rock held their Thanksgiving in 1621 as a three day "thank you" celebration to the leaders of the Wampanoag Indian tribe and their families for teaching them the survival skills they needed to make it in the New World.

To celebrate christopher columbus and the indians joining together for a feast. Thats the actual reason Thanksgiving was started. However we continue to do it for time spent with family, How many people actually thank Christopher for the meal in front of them? Not me I thank god for my family.

Thanksgiving is a celebration of a fall harvest feast SUPPOSEDLY from when the pilgrims who settled in Massachusetts and the American Native Indians shared together and joined in the feast to give thanks.

You already got the tech. stuff
I Celebrate it because it is my very FAVORITE holiday,
The only TRUE CHRISTIAN holiday untainted by pagan rituals.
It's a time to remember all that we have to be Thankful for,
(Which ia a very good thing)
and who would you say Thanks to if not to God ?!!
(besides the food being great, a true feast !)

Even though I am an American citizen.. I don't like celebrating the fact that the European pilgrims came over, stole all the good land, begged borrowed and took what they wanted. and have the audacity to say thanks now... JEEZ!
