If it is already potted it can be planted throughout the year. If it is barerooted, plant during the dormant season, normally, November to March, you shouldn't have any problems and as long as the ground isn't waterlogged or frozen.

Any plant can be planted in early spring or fall. Fall is usually best it gives the plant roots time to establish themselves into hearty growth. They don't bloom until April or May and they bloom on the old the previous years stalk. Prune AFTER blooming. NOTE: Did you mean Kerria Japonica?

Kerrias
are quite a sturby shrub
with most shrubs it's usually best in early October, when there's ample watering from the clouds about plus the early morning dew fall
however it is possible to plant them in early spring with no problems at all .
they need to be kept under control as they will spread, so if you just want a few that's fine but don't allow them to overrun

Autumn planting is always best. The plant has time in warm wet soil to establish before the dry late spring / summer weather starts. Kerria is fairly bomb proof though.
