If you look at 'Man' as an animal species, that is how the males were created. We have that desire to get with many. But our intelligence develops our morals, so even though we have those desires, men of honor don't pursue them.

Genetically, man is designed to mate with many, while woman, saddled with the responsibilities of child birth and rearing, looks for a partner who is strong and can provide well for her and her child/ren. A man produces millions of sperm in a single teaspoon of semen, while a woman, in her 35 productive years of 15 to 45, considering a monthly cycle, produces about 300 odd good eggs for fertilisation.
The social structure of modern society is such that it is difficult to follow caveman-like tendencies of mating with many, though promiscuity is on the rise with availability of birth control etc. Sticking to one mate also avoids conflict and corresponds to the biblical commandment of 'do not covet thy neighbour's wife'.
Women have also become more ready to experiment with sexuality as society has become more open and they are financially independent, i.e. don't need men any more to fulfil their basic needs of shelter and food.
However, hypocrisy in a one-on-one committed relationship leads to a lot of heartbreak, something well avoided. Very few couples have managed to keep their 'personal private spheres' of existence in an open relationship either personal or private, and have thrown away what they have.
My recommendation, either be a butterfly , or a lifemate.......not both!

When a man and women truly fall in love and enter the all consuming world of each other, as long as both needs are continually being met and satisfied why would you cheat? Nothing is better than a loving relationship unless you have problems.
