Can someone tell me about cane toads?

They're an introduced pest, they're huge (size of a dinner plate)and have taken over Queensland and are starting to get into New South Wales as well.
My parents live in Queensland and they get cane toads. You're supposed to kill them as soon as you see them, preferred methods are shooting, squashing them with a brick or freezing them. It has to be done, otherwise they destroy the natural ecology and kill native animals and plants.

they are a pest
introduced to try to eradicate a cane beetle.
didnt work
now the toads are a plague and there are no natural enemies.
they are ugly and smell.
not that I have anything personal against them....

they have poisinous glands that look pretty mankey
