I don't know what part of America you are from but here in the heart of Rural England the sun does indeed shine, even on the most rainy of days - so it is very possible...

The misconception that it always rains over here, is so untrue, unless you go to Wales or Scotland or the Lake District or Manchester, of course, however, it is currently a very pleasant day as I gaze out of my window across the rolling hills and shagging cows...

Yes that's how rainbows are made and when the one you love smiles at you on a rainy day that's just like sunshine too.

just before & after the rain, we see rainbow. this is caused b'coz of the dispersion of the sunlight by the tiny water particles suspended in the atmosphere, which r just abt to fall on earth as rain. if there's no sunlight, there is no rainbow. and this is y u r'nt able to see the rainbow when it rains during night time.

hence, it's absolutely possible that u could see sunshine on a rainy day!

Yes, it's possible - I've seen it happen many times. Usually it happens when there's a break in the clouds, especially if the sun is in the west and the rain is in the east, or a similar situation. It doesn't happen a lot, of course; when I was a kid, my granny used to tell me that it meant that the devil was beating his wife ;-)

Yeah, I've seen it several times. It's when the clouds are raining but just aren't covering the sun.

Literally, yes! Wherein after the rain, there will be a bright rainbow.
Also, figuratively, yes! When you love one is with you and he/she makes you happy.
