I recently went off of the pill after being on it for 4-5 years straight without missing any pills! Me and my fience are wanting to try to have a baby come january- febuary and i was just wondering what others outcomes were while going off the pill. I havent yet had one regular cycle since i have been off of it, but should i expect anything unordinary? Should it take me long to consceive?

it really depends on your body. The firsts months you can be late because your hormones are just trying to adjust to not having the pill every month. I was on the pill 7 years without missing any and took me 5 months to conceive. My cousing was on the pill for 7 years too and she got pg the next month after she stopped taking it. Good luck

It really just depends on how your body responds! You hear stories of girls missing 1 pill and getting pregnant... and then others going a year off the pill before getting pregnant. So good luck to you. There isn't any harm in starting to try now! :) I went off the pill in January after 8 years. . . My husband and I didn't use any other kind of protection and it took us 9 months to get pregnant! I had went to my dr for a normal yearly check up and he said if nothing happened before January (which would have been a year) they would want to check us but anything before that was normal.
Best of luck to you! :)

When you stop using the birth control pill but you don't get a period for several months, you may have what's known as post-pill amenorrhea. The pill prevents your body from making hormones involved in ovulation and menstruation. When you stop taking the pill, it can take some time for your body to return to normal production of these hormones.

Typically, your period should start again within three months after you stop taking the pill. Most women ovulate promptly and have a period within four to six weeks. But some women, especially those who took the pill to regulate their menstrual cycles, may not have a period for many months.

If you don't have a period within three months, take a pregnancy test to make sure you're not pregnant. If after six months you still don't have a period, see your doctor.

Standard recommendation is that you wait for at least 3 months before trying/expecting to conceive after going off the pill in order for your body to have a chance to reset itself. If you've been off it longer than that, you will probably want to see your doctor to find out why your periods are irregular. This could indicate other issues that will decrease your chances of conceiving.
