This had been one of the best match ups in the league for a couple of entertaining years. Then, all of a sudden, Mac stopped coming to play! You see, I love this match up because these two guys are very much alike and they actually guard each other when they play. But, what propels Kobe above Mac is his passion for the game. A lot of times it seems as though Mac doesn't care whether he wins or loses, the same cannot be said about Kobe - he takes the game very personal. Also, they're both exceptional individual defenders but Kobe understands TEAM defense better than Tracy that's why he has countless Defensive First Team awards. It's a simple task to try to shut your man down - it's either you can stop him or you CAN'T...there's nothing complicated about it. BUT, to orchestrate a defense to shut an entire team down is a little bit harder.

Thank you, Thank you, and again Thank you. You are the first person I have seen to post this question. Every time somebody compares Kobe, with someone like Lebron, or Carmelo I get frustrated because Kobe is not a forward like Melo or James. He is a guard; in I always thought that Kobe and T-Mac are the best at those positions. I think McGrady always comes through when his team needs him, like the 13 points in 35 sec. including the 3 point shot to win that game. I think T-Mac is better individually because he does what he has to do to get the job done. I know Kobe made the playoffs last year, and T-Mac didn’t, but T-Mac didn’t because he was injured, which brings me to my next point, T-Mac is injury prone, and Kobe is not.(even though Kobe has recently been injured) The only way we can choose who is better is to wait and see what the rockets do. If the rockets win 3 championships in a row then yes we might say McGrady is better, since Kobe and Shaq played when they were both young, and McGrady and Yao are a great young duo. But for now Kobe gets the edge. But really who is better. To me it’s a coin toss. Both have great range on their jump shot, both are incredible highflying dunkers, both have good handles, both can pick their opponents pocket, both can take over games if they need to, and they are nearly the same height. The only difference is the numbers they wear, T-Mac wears number 1 because he just could be #1 in the league, and Kobe shouldn’t have changed his number because to me the #8 sideways is infinity, which goes on forever, anyway I pick Kobe has already tasted a championship, 3 to be correct, but if T-Mac wins 3 titles then yeah I think he will be better. Oh by the way, How many shots did Kobe take to score 81 and what was his FG% this has nothing to do with who is better, I just don’t know.

In my opinion, I believe that from an individual standpoint, a healthy Kobe Bryant is a better offensive player than Tracy McGrady.

No disrespect to T-Mac, but Kobe has shown the ability to hit the tough shot in big games (e.g., his game winning shot last year that gave them a 3-1 edge against the Lakers in the first round). I also believe he has a better back to the basket game than a healthy T-Mac.

Hope this helps.

KOBE BRYANT. What has Tracy done? Couldn't elevate Toronto, Orlando or Houston to honest championship contenders. Couldn't stay healthy long enough for anyone to see his true star caliber potential with Houston. And you said it, only one of these guys scored 81 points in a single game. I mean, if you can drop 81 points in an NBA game, you're on a completely different level as far as I'm concerned. That's ridiculous!

In order for anyone to answer this question, you'd have to not be a kobehater like so many people are. some People just don't like Kobe regardless of how good he is. He is much better than Tmac, seeing as how Tmac has Yao ming on his team and failed to make the playoffs, and kobe did it with what he has which is really not that much besides himself.

umm my vote goes to dwayne wade lol jk

kobe bryant, i personally like t-mac more but when everything else is almost even, you come down to categories such as clutch ability and id rather have kobe shoot a big shot than t-mac hands down

kobe is also better than tmac defensively so i give it to kobe
