If she wants to sit, let her sit.

Yes, its a good idea to let her sit for some time. At 4 months their back bone is not too strong but sittling for 10 to 15 minutes at a stretch is quite okay .... my daughter too started sitting up from her 4th month and she's been quite active since.

I am a pediatric physical therapist and see children mostly 0-5 years old....
Yes, you can help her sit....it is ok. She may really lean forward....just try to help her prop on those little arms....lock her elbows....this is a good way for her to learn strength in her back and trunk. Babies are ok to sit up as soon as they hold their head...sounds like she is right on track. Just help her do her sitting....lots of hands on ok. I am not a fan of infant store walkers or Bumbo seats...they are conterproductive to baby leg and pelvis strenght. Hope this helps you! Good luck!

Every baby is different and has it's own pace... If she is ready to sit up, let her do it... Mine is 6 months old now and he just sit up yesterday for the first time. But like all said, every baby is different. 6-months is like an estimate on when they will do it. If she does sit up indeed, I recommend lowering her crib one step.

Dont sweat it and enjoy !

Absolutely let her sit if she is already trying!! What you read and hear about babies sitting at 6 months is just what is typical. Every baby develops differently. So, one baby may sit at four months, one at 6 and one at 8 and there is nothing wrong with it!! HTH!!

different babies r different, allow her 2 sit on her own but make sure u hav som support at the back incase she falls behind. u cud sit on the floor spreading ur legs apart wth her in the middle. dont leave her alone 2 sit up.

infact you should be greatful if she sits early, nature is to be followed not controlled. My baby was taking long and i was advised my Paeds that I should give her more time until NATURALLY she masters the art, she finally sat at 8months!
