I've owned several Pontiacs over the years. My first car was a GTO.
They have always been good reliable cars for me. They will last a long time if you take care of them
Right now I have a 95 Grand Am that I bought new. It has over 140,000 miles on it and still going strong. Doesn't burn a drop of oil. Everything still works. No rust. I guess I got my moneys worth.
I would buy another Pontiac without hesitation. I like the new 100,000 warranty.

I wouldnt advise investing in a Pontiac because everyone I know who owned a Pontiac vehicle has had problems from the motor in the window going out to something with the transmission. It's cheaply made and the quality of it's reliability isnt good either.

pontiacs in general are less than quality cars. they are basically "sister" cars of whatever buick, chevy or any other GM car has. they're just renamed differently and assume that consumers are too stupid to realize they're buying essentially the same car but with a different name. They WILL break down sooner than any other car. all cars will eventually need maintenance or whatever but it seems that pontiacs like to get to that point sooner than any other manufacturer. breaks are shoddy since they use a front disc and rear drum setup. so expect to pay lots of brake jobs in the near future. overall, for the money, they seem okay but in the long run they are money pits and will probably turn you off from ever purchasing another pontiac in the future again.

pontiacs are predictable. they dont us a lot of new fancy technology, like ud find even in honda's or toyotas. they evolve slowly. so while u may not get the newest gadgets (which gm probably sticks in a cadillac when they do innovate something), the stuff u have has proven itself. that said, go to consumerguide.com and look up ur car. u can see when stuff will break, etc. finally, when stuff does break, its cheaper to fix. and camaro parts go in firebirds etc.

They will be mechanically reliable, but some of the older ones had somewhat crappy interiors. Also, try to avoid body cladding, since it can fall off, and tends to look like crap. The new ones look great though, have good stuff, and don't have body cladding! They are good solid cars.
