Everything has been said:
Start having a low cholesterol diet! How? Exercise can increase your good cholesterol!
what is your weight is it normal, overweight or obese? Your height should be taken, the weight depends on several factors, it depends on your built, small, medium or large! First determine how much pounds you should loose if you are overweight!
Choose an exercise program which you will enjoy & find friend or a member of the family who will also exercise with you. It can be your favorite sports or you can just jog, or dance. But first, better have an ecg taken to rule out heart disease. You should know which exercise is contraindicated to you if you have a heart problem. Consult your doctor, if medication is to be started, it is important that your liver function test should also be evaluated because medication for hypercholesterolemia is excreted or goes out of the liver.
If ECG is normal & no contraindication to exercise, minimum exercise to be effective should be 30 minutes 3 x a week. It should be continuous x 6 weeks before you weigh yourself again. It is only then that weight lost can be noticed. You can increase your exercise later to daily if you can do it.
Start your DIET! Low cholesterol diet includes avoidance of softdrinks, ice cream, cakes, chocolates. Eat low cholesterol foods. Avoid too much cheese as it increases not only your sodium but also your cholesterol. Therefore, lessen intake of pizza, cheeseburger ( you can have regular hamburger instead). Avoid fatty foods! Mayonnaise increases also your cholesterol therefore avoid too much of the salad dressings also. Increase your intake of vegetables & fish, but avoid salty ones! The creamier the soup the more cholesterol there is. Better consult your dietician.
Once your cholesterol is high, it increases the risk of coronary artery disease , heart attack, stroke! These fat deposits travels through the arteries in which they might clog.

Benecol, walnuts, onions and garlic have been proven to help regulate cholesterol. Do not eat saturated fats eg meat, junk food. Mononsaturated fats have cholesterol lowering properties and can be found in avocado, nuts and oily fish eg Salmon. Increasing your fibre intake should also help so have foods such as brown rice, bran based breakfast cereals, apples and prunes. Good luck. X

Your LDL cholesterol level greatly affects your risk of heart attack and stroke. The lower your LDL cholesterol, the lower your risk. In fact, it’s a better gauge of risk than total blood cholesterol. Your LDL cholesterol will fall into one of these categories:
LDL Cholesterol Levels
Less than 100 mg/dL Optimal
100 to 129 mg/dL Near Optimal/ Above Optimal
130 to 159 mg/dL Borderline High
160 to 189 mg/dL High
190 mg/dL and above Very High
There are 2 types of cholesterol LDL (bad cholesterol) and HDL(good cholesterol).
In the average man, HDL cholesterol levels range from 40 to 50 mg/dL. In the average woman, they range from 50 to 60 mg/dL. HDL cholesterol that's less than 40 mg/dL is low.
Low HDL cholesterol puts you at high risk for heart disease. Smoking, being overweight and being sedentary can all result in lower HDL cholesterol.
If yours is 7.1, presumably your good cholesterol is very low meaning you need to make some life changes immediately.
If you have low HDL cholesterol, you can help raise it by:
Not smoking
Losing weight (or maintaining a healthy weight)
Being physically active for at least 30–60 minutes a day on most or all days of the week
Good Luck!

It means that is the amount of cholesterol in your blood measured in parts per ml I think. Basically 7.1 is VERY high and could cause you big health probs if you don't get it down.
