Do you refer to the modern Slavic/Albanian Republic of Macedonia?
Because there is also the authentic Macedonia which is in Greece! The famous Greek Macedonia or Macedon.
The authentic Macedonia in Greece still exists and it has been existed for thousand of years! Therefore it seems that the odds are good.
As long as Greece survives so will the authentic Macedonians (the real ones in Greece).
As for the Slavic/Albanian republic of Macedonia I personally wish it will manage to survive! The problem with that state is that it hasn’t got an identity. It is a country with various ethnicities that doesn’t share a common origin or inheritance. There are Slav-Macedonians (mainly of Bulgarian and some Serb origin) who form the majority (estimates 55%) of the small state and a large minority of Albanian-Macedonians who are nearly 35% of the population. There are also other ethnic groups such as Serbians (another large minority), Turks, Vlachs, Gypsies and ever real (Greek) Macedonians whose numbers are not clear.
Under Tito’s communist dictatorship a vast propaganda took place in the small state (a Yugoslavian republic then) that tried to fabricate a new identity. This is the reason why some of the Slav-Macedonians actually believe that they connect with the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedonia and they claim part of Greek history as theirs. (Of course no scholar in the world connects the modern Slavs of Slavic/Albanian-Macedonia with the ancient Macedonians and even their government has clearly stated that they are not related to Alexander the Great and his Greek Macedonia)
As a conclusion we can say that the modern Slavic/Albanian republic of Macedonia has problems, no common identity, and unfortunately few fanatic groups of Albanian and Slavs who compromise their effort for stability!
I wish for the country the best but they need to find a way to solve problems and start learning their true history.

Why?
Well, Macedonians are mentioned as descendants the son of Zeus and a Greek Nymph, Macednos, who was brother of Magnitas (Hesiod).
In the history of Greek races, Macedonians appear sometime some 27 centuries ago, in a part of Thrakia, South of the land of Paeones. Thus, they managed to exist 27 centuries, getting all the fight from Romans, Turks, Celts, Slavs, etc., now, I think that if the real Macedonians read their history, check with their names and language, see Truth in the eyes, let aside Soviet plans (those promoted by Stalin and Tito), be happy and support the Truth, they will exist for ever!
If they turn their back to the Truth and promote the lies for political reasons, they will definitely exist, but will always be suppressed by the world community for taking and supporting stupid positions and ideas!

Of Course!!! MACEDONIANS will always exist, allot of neighboring countries try to wipe the MACEDONIANS out after the country was divided in 1913 and still to this day!! MACEDONIANS all over the world will always be MACEDONIAN! Then their is (unfortanally) MACEDONIANS like some people above my answer, that were brought up from their parents and grandparents to believe that they are greeks!! These kind of people were brought to Greek school and were taught this way !!There is only one MACEDONIA and it is for the MACEDONIANS!! In 1913 MACEDONIA was divided by the Americans and the Britishes, Greece, Bulgaria and Albania! In the greek part the MACEDONIA people were stripped of their human rights. They were not allowed to speak the MACEDONIAN language only Greek, all Cities,Villages,Lakes and Rivers were change into Greek names, all churches were transformed into greek writing!!! The Greek government made up organizations that are against the MACEDONIAN nation and they still exist today!! Lots of MACEDONIANS were force out of this are if they spoke their own language!! Bulgaria and Albania have smaller occuiped parts of territory!! and the rest of MACEDONIA became apart of the country Yugoslavia, but was still call the republic of MACEDONIA! In 1992 Yugoslavia broke apart and now MACEDONIA is it's own country again but not the way it was before 1913!! When MACEDONIA was on its own again ever country in the world recognized it except Greece! Because they were scared that MACEDONIA will fight for the territory back!! As for your answer again MACEDONIANS will always exists anywhere in the world they are one of oldest nations in the world!!!
