I believe that in England, if you want to get drugs then you will. The law cannot prevent you from obtaining them but will punish you if you get caught.

Some people take drugs because they are illegal for the 'buzz' but there are many reasons to take them.

When drugs are illegal, there is no control - the black market uses demand and supply to set a price and the highest price is the desired drug to sell.

A junkie will go out and steal, mug or prostitue themself to get money for their fix - this is an additional crime.

So the law as it is will not prevent drug taking and in effect makes additional crime.

Why not legalise ALL drugs - control the supply, control the effects and have a rethink about what a crime really is?

The bottom line is if drugs are illegal or not there still going to be used. Instead of punishing people for using them should we be controling what is being stole, how its being stole, who is selling them and who there being stole to???

This is what i dont understand about drug laws.. Yes if abused drugs lead to some very nasty things. But a 'drug' like cannabis which was made illegal in the first place was to give synthic fibers a go in the market and racial reasons.. Alot of people are just uneducated on drugs... Cannabis isnt just a 'party drug' has a lot of medical purposes.. I should no i use it for this urpose myself.. And who has the right to tell me what i can or cant use? Its my body isnt it? If i choice to use a NATURAL plant to help other then meds which i have ni idea whats in them.. Let alone all the side affects.. Makes you think doesnt it?

Then you go to drugs like ectasy.. Wouldnt you rather see young people use this drug in a controled enviroment? With it being in the black market theres no laws stoping what gets put in them.. If i was to go buy ectasy right now ive got no idea whats in it. Alot of dealers dont care about the buyers well being just the money thats being handed over.. Now if they were legal you would know whats in it [well at least the goverment would.]

If drugs were to be made legal doesnt mean its goin to be in your face day in day out, does it? If you think about it it will only affect those who use them.. Pretty much were saying let us make our own choices in life, if i choice to smoke marijuana that my choice not urs its not harrys or marys.. Its mine! Plus think of the money that would be put back in to the economy?

Well thats enough of my rant about the 'war against drugs' for now... Hope thats a answer you where looking for

The thing with drugs, legal or otherwise, is the fantastic possibility for abuse. I know this first hand as an alcoholic in recovery. In the program I attend the number of alcoholics are less than those that misused the "hard-drugs" but the damage done by all to themselves, their loved ones, and society in general is equally as great. Your question is difficult to answer because not everyone who may use a drug for recreation(occasionally) is the problem. The problem comes from the millions who can not. Since we take a great chance leaving it to the individual then society as a whole must decide what's best for society in general. And that means control of "recreational" drugs...exactly the situation we have today...of which I approve.

If California is going forward with their plan to legalize pot, a stable chew of the subject with the Mexican drug commerce would leave in one day! California has already drawn up a plan and a invoice has been drafted to pass by way of next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days's state legislature (it became in the information final week). The revenues tax earnings on my own would wipe out the state deficit interior one 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. There would be huge further mark downs from alleviation of penal complex overcrowding because of the fact human beings in penal complex on marijuana offenses would would desire to be freed. With California imparting criminal weed, there would be NO unlawful call for for weed in one finished state with a Mexican border. And marijuana would be taxed and controlled by utilising the government, only like cigarettes and alcohol. this implies age limits on sale and intake, and likewise attempting out in the region of work if and while mandatory (I even have had to pass by way of drug and alchohol attempting out for my activity for years, so it makes no distinction to me).

Legalising will enable more overdoses, more addiction, welfare dependency, health needs.. because even if you control it, some will still want more.
I understand what your saying, but i have witnessed many of my friends and acquaintances decline and end up in mental institutions because of drugs and some of them have only ever used marijuana.
Very sad to see what it has done to them..
Why not get high on life..
