there are lots of programs out the to allow you to make backup copies of your DVDs, icopy is one of them, but in most cases they won't allow you to copy copr-righted disks. to do this you will need a program to rip the DVD to disk this program will remove the copy protection. once you have this done you can then burn the copy back to a new disk. If you are using a single layer DVD ( i.e. 4.7 Gb ) then you will also need to compress some of the data as most DVDs are approx 9Gb. a good program to try for the ripping would be DVD decrypter, available as freeware.

I should mention that it is illegal to make copies of DVDs unless you own the original and that the copy is for your own personnel use and not for selling.

there that's covered my ***.

good luck

You have a Combo drive and need a Super Drive to copy
a dvd, you probably have a cd/r,rw and you need a dvd/r.rw!
Check it out with the instructions, a dvd/r,rw will not copy a
dvd, it can only read it.

A CD/RW DVD combi drive is probably what you have. This has the ability to read a DVD and it can Read and Write to a CD.
Therefore you can rip a DVD to your computer but you cannot burn it to a new DVD.
You need to get a DVD/RW drive (ie a drive capable to writing to a DVD)

Nero Recode will allow you to backup any films that are not copy protected.

Breaking the encryption on copy protected DVD's is illegal (even if you own the DVD). However, there are programs available to do this, such as DVDShrink.

You have your DVD player and your DVD burner.

The DVD player can only play.

The DVD burner can play and copy films.

However you cannot copy DVDs because they are encrypted. You need special illegal software to decrypt them.
