I was just wondering, if the President of the U.S was female, would her husband be called the First Gentleman?

That would be the politically correct term. I have a feeling he is going to be called much worse than that though by the President' political enemies and especially by comedians. I feel sorry for whoever must occupy that post the first time because it isn't going to be pretty and he will not get the benefit of the protection which we afford to First Ladies. People will say he's a man, he can take it and it will be open season.

Unless the first woman President is Hillary Clinton or Laura Bush, in which case the husband would probably still be called "Former President ........"

If there was a female president in the US I doubt she would concern herself with having a husband. I dont think a woman would make it that far if she had a husband to drag her down.
