Family emergency. They won't really ask and it's more emotional that physical trouble so it's kinda touchy, and they're less likely to bother you about it. Just be sure to act a bit troubled when you get back, lol. Don't say someone died--they may want you to back it up or you might slip up later if asked about it. Be vague but give just enough info to make them uncomfortable, and little enough that you remember what the lie was.

Phone in sick, if possible get someone else to do it for you as that sounds more convincing, keep it vague with the illness, perhaps the flu?? And the day you come back to work remember to act as if you're getting over an illness! Enjoy the 21st!

The day before you want them two days off, keep complaining of stomach cramps and then the next morning, phone up and tell your boss you have got the sh!ts. Seriously though, they cant say try and come in. YOu got the sh!ts, simple as that. I know people who have done it. It works like a treat.

Have a good couple of days. But just dont get caught, when i did something like that, i ran into my boss's side kick and got in serious trouble. Laughable now though, but that werent the point.

If you can't get holidays from work then you have to really lie and pull a sickie. As long as you're not known for doing this you should be ok to say you have flu like symptoms for two or there days.

have u already asked for holidays for this date and been refused? if so, and u call in sick now it'll look very dodgy. If not, i used to say i had a funeral in ireland to go to and needed time off. Hope your gf has a great birthday and u got her something expensive!!!

Can't you book holiday instead? If you need to pull a sickie you need to think of something plausable that isn't easily detected - how about something like an upset stomach/food bug kind of thing?

Well you could have a bereavement in the family - that sometimes works or you could have the Winter vomiting bug (speaks for itself and is highly contagious) or say you went for a meal and ate something dodgy like seafood, sore throat - whatever xx

you may find that honesty is the best policy.
go to your boss and tell(not ask) them that you want that time off even as unpaid and give the true reason.
it has worked for me in the past.
enjoy your time with your girlfriend.
