A Dog's Howl: Someone Will Die In The Neighborhood?

Some believe that if a dog howled in a neighborhood, someone in the neighborhood is gonna die...

do u believe in this?

No it is a myth dogs have real good hearing and can hear stuff that you do not so they hear it and bark at it.


However, I am sure there are cases that a dog hears someone that was going to kill someone but was just barking because it heard him.

Animals really get a bum deal with ignorant, superstituous people.

Dog's howl to communicate. Just like wolves do. Just because they can't speak human languages doesn't mean their communications are bad omens. Some dogs might think that their howls sound great and they just want to share. Some dogs might be comversing with a dog a few blocks away. Listen to the distance when the dog howls, if another dog howls far away then that's what they are doing. Some dogs do howl at the moon. Maybe because they don't understand what it is. I used to dog sit for a golden retriever who was afraid of things like flashlights and lighting. He was also very afraid of the full moon and he would shudder with fright and make odd whimpery noises when he saw it. Poor guy. Sometimes he flatly refused to go out at all he was so frightened, poor guy. But as long as I stayed right by his side he would go pee and then sprint right back into the house!

My dog used to howl when he was lonely...you know, like five minutes after we left the house or the car! He had separation anxiety issues. It was pretty funny to watch if he was howling in the car. My cousin's beagle howls, because he's a dopey beagle!

Now, if the dog is howling because has gas...I don't know, but some dog farts are pretty deadly! :))

You should get some books about animal communication and learn more about this.

And chances are that someone, some where is going to die. People do it everyday. Sometimes dogs will howl after a person or other pet companion they love has died, because they are sad. :(

I don't mean to be sarcastic.But we had a dog howling in our neighborhood night after night.It was really very sad cause the poor animal was left outside.I can tell you that we called the house and threatened the owners with the ASPCA.So I guess the only person in the neightborhood that was going to get it from the dog howling was its owner. People who abuse animals are despicable.

no I don't believe this. folklore says that if a dog howls after midnight, someone will die. to me this is hogwash. however there was a show on scifi channel that dealt with a subject just like this one. The show was called Beyond Belief.

Old superstition shared by many cultures as is the hoot of an owl at midnight, a single crow or raven flying over the house. A sign, an omen. Or, somebody is stealing a car.

Dogs howl for many different reasons one reason is that Dogs can sense and see spirits, dogs can also sense certain magnetic changes around them. Also dogs can hear high pitched tones that are to far away for the human ear to pick up on. Also if death is around dogs have a tendecy to make wimpering sounds before they howl............ another thing is dogs have a high sense of danger. So someone dying is low on a dogs list of things to howl for.................................
