i came across a rotten bag of brocoli and let me tell you it was horrid,

The absolutely MOST rancid thing I've ever smelled came about when we left a trash can uncovered outside during the rain. The trash can had about 1 foot of dirt and dead plants at the bottom, then a little bit of food/kitchen trash.
So it rained and the water went in the trash can, then it SAT. Still for like 7 days. The small became absolutely PUTRID and RANCID. It felt as though the smell was "louder" and you could smell it from 20 feet away!

The smell of a lover who climbs into bed with you after drinking beer and smoking cigarettes all night. That is the worst smell I know.
