why are some plants differant colors ? and what makes them appear in a differant color when the light shines on them ?

They are different colors because they have different pigments that predominate that part of the plant or leaf. If a leaf is green it is because chlorophyll is absorbing all the colors of light but green so the green is reflected and we see the leaf as green. If part of the leaf is red, like in a coleus, it's because that pigment is absorbing all colors but red and red is reflected. Etc. for all other colors.
