Technically 1024, which is a power of 2, but for all intents and purposes 1000.
1000 bytes = 1 kb
1000 kb = 1 mb
1000 mb = 1 gb
1000 gb = 1 tb

As many have already posted, a GB is 1024 MBs, a MB is 1024 KBs, and so on.
HOWEVER, when it comes to the marketing departments of computer hardware makers (especially hard-drive and memory card makers), they calculate with 1000 as the conversion number and not 1024 (which is the real conversion rate). This is to make their products seem better than they really are.
This is why a 1 Gb memory card, pen drive, etc... is really only 976 or so MBs and not 1024 as it should be.

ACTUALLY it is
1024 MB = 1 GB
When it comes to Computer Language,
8 bits = 1 BYTE
1024 bytes = 1 Kilobyte
1024 Kb = 1 MB
So, 1024 MB = 1 GB

1 terabyte(TB) = 1024 gigabytes(GB)
1 gigabyte = 1024 megabytes(MB)
1 megabyte = 1024 kilobytes(KB)
1 kilobyte = 1024 bytes
1 byte = 8 bits
1 nipple = 4 bits = 0.5 byte
However, data cannot be stored on anything less than a byte. Bit and nipple are not storage units.
