You sleep before your Partner. Incase they are already asleep & snoring, then throw a hand or leg (accidently) so they wake up & snoring stops a few minutes. Use this to get to sleep real fast!!!!! Or listen to songs when you go to sleep.

Snoring CAN be related to weight gain, but many slender people snore as well. There may be a genetic component.

Snoring can be a symptom of a very serious disorder called sleep apnea, which can, if untreated, lead to heart damage and even death.

If you snore softly once in a while, then this is probably not apnea, but if you shake the house, snore like a bear, and drive your spouse to the guest bedroom, then apnea is a distinct probability. Sounds like your husband is in the second group, so he needs medical help, not poking, smothering, or kicking!

Apnea is usually treated with the use of a device called a CPAP. He can't just buy one of these - they are sold only on prescription, as the pressure needs to be adjusted to his individual needs, with too high pressure being as dangerous as too low. CPAP stops snoring 100% and usually makes the patient feel generally more energetic and alert during the day as well.

Please get him to ask his doctor to refer him to a sleep clinic right away. They usually have a long waiting list, and it's important to get the process started ASAP.

We had this problem in the past with my wife. Now is much better (although not perfect):

- I sleep on my side (not on my back).
- Every time she hears me snoring she gives me a little elbow and I stop snoring (generally, I don't wake up).
- Important: I lost weight. I am 6' tall and I was 210 pounds. Now I am 185 pounds. This helped a lot.

Good luck.

Go to a Health Food, or animal Feed Store, and buy some liquid MSM for internal use. It's safe to ingest a couple of ounces, just before bedtime, and it's the only chemical that really works...

Short term solutions (ie. shushing them, throwing a pillow) will not let you sleep through the night. Have your partner investigate medical solutions. Otherwise, if you don't mind sleeping alone, separate bedrooms just might work. In my opinion, the perfect marriage/partnership is made up of separate bathrooms and separate bedrooms.

Don't let them sleep on their backs. When I would hear mine snoring I would push on him and he would roll over on his side and it would stop.

I kind of miss hearing that now.

Losing weight should help.
Also may want to consider a doctor visit to ensure it's not something else.

D I V O R C E !!

Just kidding I just touch my wife gently on the nose and she turns away and the snoring stops. I can fall asleep before she starts again.

Think about how much you would miss their snoring if they weren't around anymore...
