I have recently discovered how much of a nightmare it is to get a jug of hot water to warm my babies bottle, or for people to warm my babies food in their microwaves. So many cafes won't give you hot water becuase it is againstt health and safety, what about my babies human rights to eat? They serve boiling hot tea and coffee so what is the difference? I did have a flask but it has broken so I am now having to find somewhere to feed my son everytime I go out. Why are restaurants and cafes so unfriendly towards babies? There are places that are really helpful, don't get me wrong, but it really puts a strain on a day out when I am worrying about feeding my son.

Its really annoying.
The only thing that you can do which would be a total inconvenience to you as you are already a busy mum as it is, is to make the bottle up with hot water just before you go out and if you are lucky then it will be at a suitable temperature for baby, and if it is too hot maybe the people in the cafes would give you a jug of cold water to put it in to cool down.
Or buy one of those insulated bottle holders which would keep it at the right temp for a couple of hours.
Its so aggravating, baby's need feeding so there should be something to accommodate them and keep in with the 'health and safety' regulations.

I find that most places are helpful with getting hot water - it's almost always that they're more concerned about you handling hot water whilst holding the baby. They usually don't mind bringing over to the table for you.

They don't heat things up in the microwave because microwave ovens do tend not heat unevenly, and create hot spots that could burn the baby.

The best thing I think is to bear in mind the places that are helpful and the places that have bottle warmers, and as far as possible only go to these places. I find the staff at cafe/restaurant at John Lewis stores very helpful. Some motorway rest stop cafes have baby bottle warmers near the condiment counter.

The best places to go are Boots and BHS. Also woolworths have a bottle warmed for parents to use. Also another idea is to get an insulated bottle carrier so you can warm bottles at home and they will stay at the right temperature! I did try to buy one but my bottles were too big to fit in it so check that out before you buy.

I sympathise with you it is a nightmare when they are small, don't worry soon your baby will be big enough to eat a childs meal or sandwich and it will be so much easier for you.

Buy an insulated bag, Avent do one which you can get in Mothercare. I microwave the bottles before I go out for longer than I would if I was at home then put them straight into the bag. It is supposed to keep them warm for about 6 hours.
It doesn't really matter if they aren't as warm as usual by the time you need them cos remember the ready made bottles in the hospital aren't warmed.

the only way I could deal with this situation was to have a flask and I put the correct temperature water in it and carried travel formula dispenser and made it when needed. (the new flask I bought didn't work that well so an old family member gave me his that he had had for years so maybe check out a second hand place for a cheap one

they are making so many rules everywhere these days...but gee i never knew they would not even warm a babys bottle..i would try and see if there is a bottle warmer that goes on the lighter in the vehicle ...i do not know that there is that is after my years of having children...or another things is to just keep the bottle room temperature...i have found this does not hurt them as long as the chill is off the bottle...

i used to make my bottles by using half the water i needed.
for example if i was making a 6oz bottle i would use 6 scoops of milk but only put in 3oz of water, then when i was out i would ask the vendor to top up my bottle with the other 3 oz of boiling water.

this way they don't have to give you a jug of hot water. the only thing to worry about is if they over fill. it never happened to me but it is a risk.
i hope this helps you.

Just take the warm water from any coffee machine. The midwives have approved it as it is boiled and safe. I suggest u just buy a flask to save all the trouble. Thats what i do.

I quite agree - it used to get to me a lot. However, they might stick the bottle in the microwave for 30 seconds to take the chill off. I just got my children used to having a room temperature bottle, rather than a heated one.
