hmmm, curious question. There have been plenty of keepers who have only played one match before being dropped, or players required to stand in as a keeper when the no. 1 choice has been injured etc. Allan Border and David Boon both come to mind filling in in the 1987 world cup if memory serves.
It is a tough call to rate who was actually the worst overall though! Did any keepers play and drop every chance that came for them?
One I will ist for Australia is Tim Zoehrer. Coming after Rod Marsh made him look terrible, even though he was ok. But with a combined Test and ODI total of only 30 odd games in a 13 year period (1981-1994) he only managed 39 catches and 3 stumpings. Terrible, and easily replaced breifly by Greg Dyer, then the great Ian Healy when he came along.

I do not think that Parthiv Patel is the worst wicket keeper in the world. Just because of one bad game, one cannot brand a
player as worst in the world. He has improved a lot now in his wicket keeping and there may be wicket keepers worst than him in the world.

You are talking about "in the world", they may be not that good in indian team but among all test team you can not say they are worst. There must be other wicket keeper who did not play good so did not get chance.
If you consider among the ones who got chance to play in test or one day int'l, still we do not know all the bad playing w keeper's name or performance. there are lot of them who got chance and dropped after playing few match. Naturally we can not remember their name or perfomance. I am sure both p patel and D das ( though they did not perform well) are far beter than lot many others.
Its humalating them unnecessarily.
Question could be ---" how about performance of P Patel, / D Das? Was it satisfactory enough to get chance in Indian team."
Even then you have to admit they were among the best in that time in India.

I second that one. Parthiv Patel is by far the worst ever. As for the aussie series, let's hope they go downhill like the Windies did in the late 90s. Maybe then, we can overcome them in their back yard.

parthiv has been the worst but nonetheless you should also remember that he had not eve passed Elementary Education. Well this age f innocence was even reflected in his wicketkeeping. But I am sure that next time when he comes for wicketkeeping after some experience, he'll be much more matured and also perform well.
Fact: The girls in 12th,11th and 10th act more innocently tahn 6th as they want to enjoy their last 1or2or3 years of school life and not as they are not matured.

Hmm... that dubious disctinction could go to Jock Edwards of New Zealand.
On the England tour in 1978 where his performances were disappointing - one member of the BBC commentary team said that Edwards was "the worst wicketkeeper I've ever seen ... he's made mistakes you'd have the 3rd XI `keeper at school running round the pitch for".
