I need to know whether I can start up with P3 computers. Who provides the internet software. Shall I go with dialling features or with cable. Do I need a server also.

What is the type of internet business you are looking into? Is it on the lines amazon.com or ebay? Is it a business portal on the glines of Global4Business.com? Or is it a travel portal or small business portal?

Or are you thinking on the lines of providing internet connections through cable network?

You first make a decision. Look around your area/state and the type of needs of the people. With one central server you can do business with ten computers. Please work out the project const:

A Cost of a server
B Number of people to be employed
C Salary and other perquisites
D If it is a rental accommodation, the rental factor
E Electricity/water charges
F Telephone bills
G Marketing strength

Unless and until you are specific about the area of your business, it would be difficult to quantify many things.

If you have any expertise with hardware and software, LINUX is the way to go. Most Distros are free and have all the features you need for a small office, and if you need support, even the for-fee versions are still cheaper than Windows. Most LINUX distros do well with just a P3 system and a cd player inside. The Highest Performance system becomes the server where you have the firewall and link to the outside world. The server handles all the print jobs, e-mails and overhead the business has.
WindBlows will not handle a P3 system very well anymore.

Cable is much faster than dial-up and with a router/server setup can handle a small office quite nicely ( unless everyone is downloading **** at the same time )

It appears that you have little knowledge about the internet and computers. First try to learn before getting into the business.
