No bad idea. Too much risk of infection or nerve damage. Have a professional do it. A buddy of mine tried to give himself an ear piercing and got a nasty infection from it. Have a professional shop do it. Also before the shop does anything ask about what sanitation methods are used. Is the place clean? If the shop looks like some grungy hole in the wall don't go there.
It may sound expensive but trust me You don't even want to begin to guess how much pills cost to get rid of an infection.

Do not do it, it will more than likely get infected, just get the money pay for it to be done, by someone who knows what they are doing.
I got my belly button pierced when i was 14 at a tattoo parlour, it still got infected, so even there's a risk with people who know what they are doing.

It is never safe to pierce your own body unless you are a trained and skilled professional, and based on your question...you are not.
The reasons being is that you do not have proper sterile equipment, you do not know how to pierce based on anatomy and you do not know proper precautions and aftercare. Also, on top of getting a serious infection, self piercings often reject and for keloids much more than one done by a professional. Also, you'll probably end up going slower while piercing (since you can feel it) and you'll end up in a lot more pain than needed and probably get a crooked piercing.
As a PROFESSIONAL piercer, I did 4 of my navel piercings myself after becoming a piercer and though they all turned out fine, it did hurt a lot more than I expected it to. And based on that, I really don't recommend amateurs to pierce themselves EVER
You really aren't saving yourself anything by doing it on your own. Save your pennies and go see a professional piercer.

OH GOD NO! I pierced my own nose and got an infection so bad that I had to get antibiotics. Always go to a pro, there's a reason that they train to do that stuff.

No! It is NOT safe. You should have a professional do it. You can hit nerves, go too deep, it can get infected, diseased, etc.

Sure! Do you have one of those hole punch things like you use for paper? That should work. You should probably pour some alcohol on it first.
