Feeling sorry for someone is a poor reason to remain miserable and truly, you aren't doing him a favor by pretending. Both of you deserve to be happy. If you aren't having fun, then something is wrong. The best, most compassionate thing to do is to be plain and honest. Tell him that you care, but you're not in love. It was a mistake and you are sorry, but it is over and you are leaving. Don't drag this out. Just go and move on with your life. He will recover and in the end, it will be the best thing you could have done for him. Right now, you are just penalizing both of you by not facing reality. Liberate yourselves and breath the fresh air of freedom. You will feel a lot better, knowing you've taken care of this for the right reasons. Enjoy!

I wish I could tell you what you're supposed to do.Stuck in the same sort of situation and effed if I know what to do.But for me it's not exactly pity it's more like protectiveness. I care for him but...thank god I'm not married. Sorry girl...common law gets you the same **** but it's Way easier and not as expensive. It's still a really hard decision to come to either way.Best Wishes.

What!...try and not feel pity for him. This is your life!... you have to make the decision the way you want to spend it...Think about it...do you want to spend the next 30-60 years with a person you don't love....to me it would be a waste of life..The longer you wait the worse it will get. Also if you leave...you will truly find out if you really love him.

go ahead with the divorce. pity him and stay and you'll be making both of your lives miserable. Why stay married to a person you believe you can never put up with? You've already committed the mistake of marrying him in the first place.

That is so sad. Why did you marry him and waste his time and yours if you were not willing to commit to the marriage. Get a divorce so that he can have the option of finding someone that will truly love him.

It sure as hell isn't fair to him to NOT tell him the truth. You have to leave or this situation will get out of hand. I'm sure he'd love to know that the woman he loves feels pity for him...you're actually hurting him more by staying in the relationship.
He WILL clue in to this eventually...let him go so you both can find genuine happiness.

ok I got this question for the most part except for the "I can never come up with him" part....skipping that I'm gonna go w/ the old "you must have married him for a reason" answer...find out what that reason is and work w/ it.....theres too much fast food marriage these days...people think they can get married and divorced in the same afternoon like its a date or something...people used to get married for life...for better or for worse...in sickness and in health...do these words hold no merit for anyone?...do they just come out like so many lies that it doesnt amtter as to their meaning?...go ahead...just keep getting married and divorced (not you specifically Tava, but everyone in general...including you)...you're just turning something special into something meaningless...

if you don't love him, don't make it unfair for him. divorce him right away. let him have the freedom he deserves. it's a waste of time to be in a relationship if you don't love each other.

why did you marry him in the first place?

You need to come clean with him and tell him the truth. The longer you let him think everything is ok the more difficult it is going to be for him to get thru it.Try to be gentle but direct.Do it soon!
