Is it going to be possible to download older NES and SNES games to the Nintendo Wii and play them on that system? I am getting conflicting reports about it and no one sems to be giving a definate answer. None of the games at launch intrest me but being able to download and play old NES and SNES games would make the system worth it. Does anyone know if this will be possible or if there is a site showing what games will be downloadable?

Yes you can but there will be a charge. Each game will rage from $5 to $10 dollars through a point system. (Point will only be purchased at the Wii store on-line on Wii)

cost of points
$19.99 (2,000 points)
NES: $5 (500 points)
SNES: $8 (800 points)
N64: $10 (1,000 points)

You will be able to play Game cube games on it if you have any.

The web site below shows some titles that are download able like

Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, Metroid, Kid Icarus, Excite Bike, Star Fox, Wave Race, Mario Kart, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Duck Hunt, Yoshi's Island, Earthbound, Super Smash Bros., and Kirby.

According to Nintendo, it is possible to download all of Nintendo's games from the NES to the SNES to the N64 and play them on the Wii. If you haven't noticed by now, if you turn the Wii-mote 180 degrees, it looks very similar to the NES/SNES control pad. Also, you can download games from other companies, like Namco, Capcom, Sega, etc.

Right out of the launch, I think 30 virtual console games will be available and more will come as Nintendo converts them from their original system to the Wii.

Yes. You will be able to download and play not only NES and SNES games, but gameboy, N64, Gamecube, and many Sega Games as well. Another great thing about the WII is you can load your personal profiles and settings directly to your controller. The days of taking your entire system to your friends house are over (as long as they have a WII, too). I work at CompUSA and I can't wait to get my hands on a WII. Sunday can't come soon enough.
