I am feeling a little guilty, and I want to find out if I am a bigot. My best friend is gay, but I barely made it through Brokeback Mountain tonight b/c of the graphic man on man scenes. I have known my friend for five years, but I have never seen him do anything besides a casual kiss. The media seems to want us all to feel perfectly comfortable with homosexual sex, but I just don't want to watch it (I don't care what they do as long as I don't see it). Also, should I mention this aversion to my friend?

Oh, of course I have the total double standard, and I don't mind watching women go at it.

As a straight female, I have no shame in admitting I think two men kissing is absolutely sexy. So sexy. I love it. I love gay porn. Man on man is my bag. Entirely.

But I understand that it isn't everyone's. If homosexual acts gross you out, you shouldn't be forced to watch them and I don't think it makes you a bigot. There are heterosexual acts that gross me the hell out and it certainly doesn't make me a heterosexual bigot. I also feel queasy watching lesbians, but I have no prejudices against them.

That's the difference between just not being comfortable with watching gay sex scenes and being a bigot: If you vote to restrict homosexual rights and discriminate against them, you're a bigot whether you can stomach watching homosexuals loving on each other or not. You're not a bigot, just a guy who knows what he does and doesn't like. No worries.

If you have a double standard, then I think you answered your own question. Also consider the fact that with any other movie you ever see with your friend, he probably has to watch "graphic man on woman scenes". The sex in brokeback wasn't NEARLY as graphic as het sex scenes in other movies. If it makes you uncomfortable, it's because you've been socialized for that. That in and of itself doesn't make you a bad person, but if you fail to recognize that and try to overcome it....

If there's ANY double standard involved, (you don't mind watching two women, you probably don't mind watching a man and a woman), then by definition, you're leaning toward bigotry.

Well, I'm not hetero (bisexual gal here), and I love watching everyone get it on.

That said, I understand not liking seeing certain things in movies, and I don't think it makes you a bigot. What would make you a bigot is saying something like "Eww, gross, I can't believe they showed that, it's sick, we should ban gay love scenes in movies!". As it is, I think we could all use a whole lot less gratuitous sex in mainstream movies that just use it for shock factor and a selling point, and a whole lot more better-acted, better-filmed, more inventive/creative porn.

If you don't want to watch something, like we all don't for at least one thing, turn the channel. That's all you have to do. Should you tell your friend? Well, if you want, but it's not going to sweeten your relationship any, of course. If you do say anything, make sure you make it clear that you like gay people, love and respect what they do, but just don't want to see it.

P.S.- Brokeback was nothing for gratuity! Very tame!

The thing is a love scene should be important to the story, rather than the feature attraction. If you watch a movie to get turned on by a love scene, then you might as well rent a porno. As repulsive as I find a man on man scene, if it is part of an interesting story in a movie, I don't mind.

Its called experimenting. The human innovations is an exceptionally complicated part of the human physique and its best variations are made for the duration of teenage years. i actually am a young person. For a whilst i became kinda dealing with what you're dealing with now, yet no longer as extreme. once you first fall in love mentally and bodily your innovations variations very appreciably and its very emotional and intensely no longer worry-free to handle. Your no longer gay. suitable now your physique is a sexual device thats die-ing to have intercourse with incredibly much any difficulty that strikes. masturbating universal doesnt help in any respect. try struggling with. Its organic to comprehend while a guy is "stable finding" it doesnt recommend your gay. And getting a BJ is F***ing mind-blowing. try getting one sometime. better of success to you. as quickly as you start to ascertain who you relatively are, issues get greater proper.

There was nothing "graphic" about the very tame scenes in Brokeback. And yes, you have a total double standard. But that's OK, I think girl parts are gross. I just don't complain about them.

To be honest I don't think there is anything wrong with what you think, as I'm sure alot of red blooded males would agree. However the reality is there are 'gay' people in the world and they do have sexual relations with each other. Yeah, it doesn't need to be over exposed, but nor does it need to be hidden. It's easy if you don't like watching those kind of things then don't watch them. I don't enjoy watching soaps, there's loads of them on the TV, but I don't turn around to my partner (who enjoys watching them) and whinge on about how I don't like them. I just don't watch them!

You're concerned you might be a bigot for being disgusted by seeing one man stick his penis up another man's *ss? I find that amusing.

Straight people have every right to find "gay sex" completely repulsive (and they should). No one expects gays to find straight sex appealing, do they?

I get so angry to see a guy & girl kissing in the publicplaces. I wish I could blow them away. it makes me so upset & sick.
