I think it depends on the couple. Kevin had a bad rep as being a user to begin with. He treated Shar pretty bad, cheated on her a few times, wouldn't find a real job and they got evicted from their apartment. Plus he started dating Brit while Shar was 8 months pregnant with their second child, so no redeeming qualities were ever shown for the public to actually like him.

But then you look at couples who do work like Denzel and Pauletta Washington. Pauletta has no desire to shine in the limelight, she just wants to be a good mother and wife. When she was called onstage during an interview by Oprah she mentioned that she knew a lot of women found her husband attractive. She said she wouldn't put it past a few to try and make a move on Denzel. Then she stated that if necessary she would fight for her man. What else needed to be said? She is perfectly happy allowing his star to shine without trying to get in on the gig as well.

It's a thing called POWER. MONEY = POWER right ? And
whoever has the most gets preferential treatment. But what is
funny is sometimes, and It's usually the wives, end up practically
ruining the other spouse when they divorce. Women aren't afraid
to sue for husbands assets. But it is frowned upon when a man
asks for money in a divorce settlement. Is it fair? I don't know...
that's what pre-nups are for. To protect yourself from going to
the cleaners. It's always lovey dovey at first...then when things
get ugly....no matter how much someone says they love you...
that same person will put the screws to ya. So, I say you have to
ultimately protect yourself. Pre-nup is smart. It has nothing to do
with how much you LOVE someone. And no one knew "K-fed"
before Brittney. So he is a snake in my book. I wonder how this
will play out. geez. I'm glad she got smart.

people may be inclined to label the nonceleb as a moucher, especially if the nonceleb tries to jumpstart a career using his/her spouse's popularity to gain favor with the media and public. K. Fed would be a good example.

Anytime someone marries someone from another class, it is assumed they're marrying for the money. This is not always true; but Federline has proved that he isn't as talented as his wife and it is awefully convenient that she could get him a record deal when he probably couldn't get one on his own merits.
