I don't care what religion, or lack thereof, an individual has. Do they have good morals? Do they care about their constituents. Do they understand the issues?

I don't care what name they call god, nor do I care if they believe in god. My ex wife considers herself to be deeply religious, however, she was constantly breaking our wedding vows She was also very judgmental. You don't have to be a Christian to have Christian Values, nor does being a Christian mean you have them.

I am a liberal, and have had so many conservative friends I've lost count. Each one of them considers me one of the best people they know. It is just a shame that those values have all too often disappeared these days.

Maybe, Religion isn't something people can talk about and agree on, everyone has their own beliefs. But just because a Politician says he doesn't believe in God, thats not a reason not to vote for him/her.

I'd vote for Ron Reagan Jr., an atheist, if he ever ran for President. The question the public should ask is whether the politician is ethical in the secular world. Whether they pray at church each Sunday is far less relevant than whether they think it's ok to take bribes, for example.

I vote on the issues, not the labels.

The athiests I see here (on YahooA!) are frequently shoving their (non)belief down everyone elses throat. The insult all believers calling them mindless sheep & try to pin every war in history on them. I would obviously NOT vote for this kind of athiest.

But I don't believe most athiests are like that.

I would vote for him (or her) if he (or she) did not have the "freedom from religion" attitude. Freedom OF religion is a founding principle in America.

I also would not vote for a Christian who wanted to shove his belief down the citizens throats. Freedom of religion goes for the Jewish, Muslim & even the athiests.

The politician can believe in anything he wants to, but I wouldn't vote for him because I would have doubts about his morality and humanism.

if they were the appropriate candidate and with their atheism came the outlook of progress in avenues that have been blocked by fear of god, YES.

I wouldn't automatically hold it against them. I'd just want to know about their views and what they plan on doing in office.
