try taking antihistamines, i know they are only for allergis people but trust me it'll take effect, i also drink antihistamines everynight before sleep and yup i can fall asleep

exampls of anithisamines:
chlorphenamie maleate
diphenhydramine
bromphineramine

above are all generics...

but wait... take note of this:
don't make yourself used to it because if you once you stop taking it you won't be able to sleep without taking it...

Hi,

At least five things are overlooked by people suffering from sleeplessness - 1) the need for walking, 2) the level of darkness during night, 3) the negative sleep technique, 4) nutrition, & 5) hormonal problems.

If you are not walking outside at a moderate pace for one hour daily, doing that would be the best thing you can try for your sleeplessness. Please note that walking is superior to all other forms of exercise in this regard. Preferably schedule your walk around 2 to 3 hours before your sleep time.

Secondly, the level of darkness in your bedroom is of supreme importance. Put simply, it should be pitch dark. For some unknown reason, in some people, sleep will be induced only when pitch darkness is sustained throughout the night. In such people pitch darkness is essential for the production of melatonin, the sleep hormone. Pitch darkness means you shouldn't be able to see anything.

To a smaller degree, similar total silence might also be necessary. Not even the snoring sounds should be there.

Thirdly, you should try the negative technique which is a proven sleep inducer. Under this technique, you stop trying to sleep. You say to yourself that sleeping at a fixed time is not important. That, let sleep come whenever it comes. And you should get up and undertake some activity, preferably reading or some crafts. Don't toss and turn in your bed. Chances are that, sooner rather than later, sleep will come beckoning to you!

The negative technique works because most of us have coping problems when it comes to things that make us anxious. You say that you have no stress whatsoever. Probably, true. But sleeplessness is one thing that can make even you anxious. The negative technique kills this anxiety. You stop being anxious about getting sleep. You might not sleep for a whole night, and spend your time reading. So what? You ask yourself and thus kill your anxiety. And it can work wonders.

You can also try taking tryptophan-rich foods for your supper. They include eggs, milk, meat, fish, nuts, banana etc. Tryptophan is a proven sleep inducer, as it is from tryptophan that body produces melatonin, the sleep hormone.. Many people also find meals with rice as the main dish, very sleep inducing, probably because rice contains natural melatonin directly.

Women generally have more trouble than men in getting sleep. This shows that sleeplessness might have female sex hormone imbalances behind it. So, you should get your hormonal status tested, including your sex hormones and thyroid hormones. And if there is some abnormality, ask your doctor whether it should be treated. If some imbalances are found to be significant, treating them will tremendously help in getting you to sleep easily.

The Ayurvedic herb Aswagandha (Withania Somnifera) is something you can try, as it can balance the female sex hormones, calm the mind, and induce sleep. You might want to ask a qualified Ayurvedic doctor before trying this. Also, getting pure and scientifically processed Aswagandha might be difficult in some places in the world.

Thanks for posting this question, thanks for the opportunity.

Happy sleeping!

Sounds like the stress of things is really getting to him. Someone told me once that taking melatonin supplements helps. I think it was melatonin....you should do a little research on that and see if it has any appeal. One thing that does work - and it's ages old - is warm milk. There's this whole chemical reaction thing that helps you knock out. Does he have an exercise routine at all? That might help him sleep better - an evening walk maybe, or lifting some weights in the evening - at least three hours before bed because later than that and it will have him more awake! HTH

First of all, when was your last check up? Have you had you tsh levels checked? If those are normal then I would look into things like are you tense? There are too many questions to give you a good avenue. If all is well, then this could just be your normal sleep cycle and your only choices then are sleep aids or living with it.

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

If you go to any health food store, and buy Melatonin, and then take it sub-lingually (under the tongue), and in the dark...I guarantee that you will experience the most restful & natural sleep ever...

Basically, it re-sets your body-clock, which somehow got out of sync...
