I love the plots in "Ghost in a Shell", any recommendations for similar storylines and anime?

SAC is pretty unique, no other anime has really addressed awareness-identity technology vs biology and what it means to be "human" topics in such depth. In my opinion, the series really gets interesting in StandAlone Complex:2nd gig, when you see how much the assimilation of cybernetic parts affects each character's decision making and approach to their jobs and lives. And of course the Ghost in the Shell movies are classics.

The style of animation is very detailed but fairly common, check out Witch Hunter Robin for more like it. That also has a similar style of narrative.

Above all, I recommend Cowboy Bebop - it's probably the best anime series of the past 10 years- a bit more lighthearted than Ghost in the Shell since it blends drama/action/comedy, but fantastic characters, and some great stories.

I dont think of bebop being in a future punk type of anime. And Witch Hunter Robin dont have much of an element close to GitS:SAC. Ergo Proxy does have the feel though as well as Armitage. So it is recommended. Although i would call SAC a thinking person's anime. It gets pretty dull to catch up with some of the story at times. But at the same time, it is interesting and makes you want to watch til the end. But probally not watch a 2nd time. Only the GitS movies 1 and 2 are good for replayability.

It might not be a true future punk. But Galaxy Express 999 has some of those elements. It's old school, but it's an awesome movie.

Appleseed would be considered future punk. But i wouldnt recommend.
