if the IUD causes abortions then how come I haven't gotten a period in 3 yrs???? Does this mean I'm carrying a 3y.o fetus???

Ignorance is so sad! Pick up a medical book and be amazed!

Being the the medical field I am Pro-Choice I am no one to sop someone else if they have their mind set. Now personally I cant say I would have an abortion. But when judgment day comes I know my mind is clear. However I don't look down on anyone who chooses abortion its a personal choice that they have o live with not me!

Wow, so many ignorant people. I too had never heard of that until after I gave birth 2 my first child. I had never used birth control due to the fact my hubby & I waited until after marriage & then wanted a baby. So after having my daughter I asked about family planning, my OB told me she refused to implant IUDs...why, because they allow conception only to "wash it out" at mensus. They have copper in it to try to prevent sprem from entering however copper has never been proven to do so. Depo basically does the same w/o the copper. Pills do many things, make a hostial enviromnent for the sperm (no cervical mucus) but on average a woman whom takes the pill loses 2 potential babies a year, compared to naturally (vanishing pregnancy) lossing 1 every 5 years. So it was easy for us to come to a decision, when you think about it "plan b'' by most people is considered a abortion, why are many forms of birth control not? They allow pre implantation to occur, which plab b doesn't even do. I am for neither, a true right to lifer. I am pregnant w/ our 3rd child in near 5 years, all have been planned. The method of protection we use is a condom & calendar timming (dont have sex near ovulation & a diaphram w/ calendar timming. Either way neither allow sperm to meet the egg and if they do by chance it will not wash away the fertalized egg. I can't believ many people do not know this it was on the national news not to long ago, how many OB's now refuse to give methods of birth control (anything that allows sperm to meet egg then aborts egg) and only allow protection methods (anything that blocks sperm) I am happy with the decision we have made, and thank you for bringing it to many peoples attention although they will not open their eyes

Its not the point in believing you, its about someones choice, if you don't want to take birth control pills because you feel it cause abortions then that's find, but others feel this prevent getting pregnant so they don't have to get a abortion. You put up 2 web page links, and far as I see, I could have put up that page, you could have done that page, that is someones opinion and nothing more. That's like taking someone to church and asking them to believe in God, but if they don't they just don't. If your pro life then good for you, but that doesn't mean that everyone else have to agree with your way. So my question for you is do you believe in any protection to prevent pregnancy. And regarding your findings about birth control. My girlfriend took birth control for years and she got pregnant and she didn't know and she took them up until she was 3months, she has a 4year old son, who is health, Thank God. So not all birth control cause abortions. Birth control is suppose to prevent you from getting pregnant, so how can you cause a abortions when your not getting pregnant. You have to be pregnant to cause a abortions don't you think.

did you also know a good % of fertilzed eggs are washed out in a womens monthly cycle because they fail to implant the women never knows she was acually pregnant? nature works that way. Yeah the pill can cause that to happen it can happen to any women not on the pill to so i don't get why it matters to you. NATURE is screwed up. for those who said no that is not true they are not informed many women still ovulate on the pill the pill dose not STOP ALL OVULATION. I'm pro choice i don't care either way but facts are facts and yes the pill can cause a pregnancy loss. the morning after pill is pretty much high doses of birth control.

You're an ignorant moron. Birth control pills don't cause abortions. They prevent pregnancies. There's a difference. A relative of mine was taking the pill and worked near x-ray machines every day during her first trimester, and the baby came out just fine. And women take the pill for health reasons (i.e. preventing harmfully heavy periods, regulating periods, etc.). You should know that not everything you read on the internet is true. No wonder Americans are getting dumber every day. I'm really afraid for my country.
P.S. - A woman's right to choose is a fundamental right. Who the heck are you to determine that for every woman in America? Or in the world for that matter? To criticize those who are pro-choice is to impose your beliefs on them. Unborn children are, by definition, parasites. Go look up the word if you don't believe me. And in the first trimester, the baby isn't even a "baby" to begin with, and therefore not a sustainable life anyway. It doesn't have all the characteristics of a human, so why would you consider it as such?

I'm pro-life but do take the pill for medical reasons. If I didn't, I run the risk of cysts and losing my only remaining ovary. I'm Catholic, but discussed it with my priest and he says I shouldn't feel badly about it. I stopped taking it and am currently expecting my first child, so my DH and I are very excited (only 2 more weeks to go!!).

I was not aware that taking the pill could cause abortions. I think it is rare for it to do so unless taken in extreme dosages.

Birth control does not cause abortions. An abortion is a procedure that you go to a clinic for. Birth control keeps you from ovulating so that there is no chance of fertilization. If you are pregnant and take the pill, it will cause harm to the unborn child.

No it doesn't.

There are two kinds of pills. The combination pill prevents ovulation by suppressing the natural hormones in the body that would stimulate the ovary to release an egg. By taking this estrogen throughout the month, you insure that no egg will be developed or released for that cycle.

The minipills, which contain no estrogen, inhibit the egg's ability to travel through the fallopian tubes, alter the cervical mucus to block sperm, partially suppress the sperm's ability to unite with an egg, and partially inhibit implantation in the uterine wall.
