A couple of season ago, the NBA played around with the idea of reducing the three point arc. During the season, players who didn't normally take threes were taking them.
The following season, the reverted back to the old distance.
Personally, I found it a bit too far when I tried to shoot in an NBA regulation court. But since the distance is the same from the corners, I had no problem knocking those down from there.
Hope this was helpful.

Not at all. It is just that the caliber of basketball has changed and the game is too accommodating. Back in the 80s, it was not unusual to see players knock down 3 pointers from half court, and especially in the 60s (for some reason, I used to think that shooting from half court was worth 5 instead of 3 points).

No, I think that the 3 pt line in the nba is perfect. It's not easy, but not too hard to hit that shot. With practice, u can perfect the 3 pt shot. An example is Ray Allen. I think it's at a perfect length because it doesn't make it easy nor hard.

I think that the NBA three point line is just fine the way it is... to really make the game improve they should change the point system and make a dunk worth one point with one foul shot if you are fouled. This way it might start encouraging young players to develop mid range jump shots. That is my theory anyway... help usher some talent back into pro ball.

I would actually go the other way, I think the corners are clearly too close, and id even love to expiriment with moving the line back as a whole. I think the league is getting too homogeneous with small ball and stretch fours, and i think it'd be great to see the return of old school bigs having equal importance, and personally.

Try making people practice midrange shots and nobody would watch the NBA anymore.
This goes to the dude who said that dunks should be worth 1 point.
P.S. I know you (the dude) wouldn't watch games filled with midrange shots.

Hell, I think it's too short. However if they went with my idea they would have to let up on thier wussy foul rules and make it a little rougher.

no because not everybody misses them if they made it closer the three point shot would be made alot more and would take the fun out of the three point shot

i say move it back farther. most people would think this would decrease scoring, but it would do the opposite. doing so would also make basketball more of a team sport again
