It should be. It should also be a big topic in the next session of congress. It should also be a big issue in the UN. This is one more problem Bush has diverted our attention away from in the last 6 years. This problem needs to be address world wide.

Global warming is a bigger threat to this country and all other nations than terrorism. Terrorism is just a symptom of this problem.

Alhough Republican supporters have successfully labled those folks concerned with global warming as "tree huggers", there can be no doubt that centuries of polluting the atmosphere we breath and the environment that sustains us is adversely affecting not only the atmosphere, but all other areas of our lives as well. The solution will not be cheap, and will require monumental global coorperation that may be difficult to achieve. But the effects of pollution are undeniable.

If you wanted to test the "therory" just run your car in a closed garage for a couple hours and see what happens. You die. Just because the open atmosphere is vast does not abate the same damage to you, its just taking a little longer to kill you.

If you care to look at reports from heatlh departments, you will see a continuous rise in cancerns, heart disease, and other pollution-related illnesses since mankind "industrialized". Althoughour medical knowledge has improved regarding the treatment of these concerns, the statistics are clear and undeniable. The effects are also showing up in the field, where incidents of plant and animal deformaties and deaths are rising. These incidents are showing up in ever greater numbers in animals most researchers consider to be indicators of what will shortly happen to mankind.

But because it seems people are more concerned with making a profit and reducing short-term costs they are willing to risk destruction of the ecosphere in the long run. It has taken centuries of pollution for the effects to begin showing up, and it will take centuries to correct, if ever.

So will this be a big topic? Should be, but I fear the issue will be politicized, and our great-children, as always in a Republican world, will be left holding the bag to fix it.

It seems likely to be a big issue world wide in all elections.
The media have really gotten onto the global warming band waggon and ain't letting it go thanks to Al Gore and others.
Politicians ignore this issue at their peril.
