Nixon had to be impeached before he would resign, I don't think George Bush will do anything any different as a sociopath like Richard Nixon was.

George won't resign. It takes a very large scandal to cause a President to resign and the only President to ever do so was Nixon (Watergate). In my opinion, the people who don't respect him now won't respect him no matter what he does. Also, let's consider the situation. Bush's resignation would put Cheney in charge of the Executive Branch until January 20, 2009. Do you really think people who dislike Bush will like Cheney better? I do not want Cheney to be President. Since the will of the people elected Bush to serve 4 more years (I certainly didn't vote for him), the respectful thing to do is to serve those 4 years for his country and to follow the will of the people from which he derives his power.

George W. will not resign, nor should he. In his own peculiar way he is a forthright American and he loves this nation. He not of presidential caliber, but there were many such people in the top seat of the White House. I am very much afraid of what the Democrats will do now that they are in the majority of the House and Senate. Pelosi, Dean and several others are nut cases; however, the president still has a veto which he can still wield.

He needs to clear a couple things up before the next election but you cannot judge a man for a couple flaws. Any "bush haters" would have killed us all by now if they tried to be President for a week. Anyone that can handle the job in the least bit gets my respect. If he were to resign it would leave the country in a bigger dilemma. You dont run from problems you fix them.

No he will never resign. He needs to save face for the 2008 elections. However, if the Democrats decide to start investigating Haliburton, where the money is going for the war...maybe there will be an impeachment process.

I really think the Dems and Bush are going to try and work together and get some things done. I can't believe I just said that??!!

Are there any circumstances under which W will resign?

Bright spot, H*LL yes!

Is there any possibility the Democrats will bring about these circumstances to force W to resign?

Equally, but sadly, no.

If Bush 43, had a shred of decency, he would resign now and allow others to end the occupation of Iraq.

The 'war' in a traditional way was won long ago!!!

US troops killed all the Iraqis in military uniforms and our government declared their military disbanded.

Mission Accomplished! War Won and Over! Come home and do me like you did last Thursday!

But ding-dong-bells couldn't leave well enough alone.

He decides to turn the country into some kind of Neo-Con paradise. Men are forced to wear womens pink panties on their heads; families wake to see squads of US Marines taking night vision scopes onto their balconies for a two day visit.

George Bush, or his agents, authorized torture in Iraq and then had his flunkies in Congress pass a law granting him immunity if it turns out he committed War Crimes.

It is possible afterall that when they said 'waterboarding', the Prez innocently thought it was a new sport, like snowboarding.

Afterall, two months before the invasion, Bush didn't realize there are Sunnis AND Shia in Iraq. He thought they were all 'Islam'.

He suspended Habeas Corpus despite his oath to uphold the Constitution. The Constitution states this can be done only in times of invasion (by them not us!) or times of rebellion ( in the US not in a foriegn country). Article 1 Section 9.

I adore Pelosi and want the best for her. But how can she really go after Bush when she selects Murtha for Leadership?

How long before Bush's friends over at FOX start airing Murtha's appearance on film with undercover FBI agents during the Abscam sandal?

If Bush did resign, like Nixon, to avoid a certain impeachment in the House, I think people would respect him more.

At the end of his life, Nixon was generally well respected. Maybe more than Gerald Ford who pardoned him. Certainly more than Jimmy Carter, who wore too many sweaters.

In the end, even I could acknowlege that for all I find wrong with Bush 43, at least he is in the mix and did something! Criminal, like Nixon, but something!!!

In your dreams. Why would he resign? To be popular? D.C. doesn't stand for High School. Bush is respected for having character. Libs need to consult the dictionary to understand the meaning of character. Hint: popularity isn't in the definition.

bush bashing is Ossama's best friend you got to be better informed than to think that if he could use the nuke on'em that it would be a done deal. no body wants another small arms bull-shut, if you got the bang for the bucks you wanted we would have to face less problems too and that would upset the save the world peace keepers, you gotta have money on the table or we just screwed, try to get screwed early and often it's the American way,i get up every day just like back in the cold war days and know there isn't a reason in the world to be alive(war mongers steal our dreams away by fear factors). every-time somebody wants something else sure enough they get it and it only screws things up some more, give Geo. the power he wants and you'll love the guy it your wishy washy hold outs that maker war last till~~~~~~~~~ the twelfth-of-never

No - he will "stay the course". Sorry couldn't resist. He has it right that terrorism is the single biggest threat to the world today. I sometimes question his methods but not his motives. The man is genuinely believes in the vision of a democracy in the Middle East to help spur positive change the region. If he is right and he could be, in 50 years his legacy may be greater than that of Reagan for winning the cold war.

If George Bush admits he was a poor leader and resigns I will respect him.

Highly doubt he'll resign. Not with 2 years left in his term and the fact that he can't be re-elected. He'll worry about his legacy, unless something absolutely catastrophic happens--even then I don't think the Congress would like him leaving it to Dick Cheney...

Not to sure if there's anything he can do to make himself more respectable other than trying to work with the Democrats and LISTEN TO THE VOTERS.
