I agree that you probably want some real world experience before getting the MBA, but you probably should take the test soon, if only because your mind is primed for taking stupid tests. And it is a stupid test. More than any other test I've ever taken, it is a test you study for, then completely forget everything you learned once the test is over. It is an exercise on how not to solve problems.

However, you should probably wait until your finals are over and you can fully concentrate on the GMAT study material. It will be detrimental to both the GMAT and your schoolwork if you try to cram them in at the same time. Actually, thinking about it, you may want to wait until summer, or even the summer after you graduate. Remember, you really should have at least 2-5 years under your belt before applying - top B-schools are looking for candidates with proven potential to be business leaders, and until you've worked and succeeded in leadership positions, you have not yet earned that distinction.

Depends on where you want to go to B School. If you are looking for a top 25 school, they generally want a couple of years of "real world" experience.
