No one knows what they will do until they get in there, but I hope they are protectionists, we need to protect American jobs and stop destroying families with unfair trade, it's caused poverty, crime, divorce, abortion, drug abuse etc, and it's time we end it.

This is a great question. My whole work had a big discussion about this topic.

IMHO the newly elected officers and representatives are not at all populist and very much protectionist.

Here's why. Most people who voted made a rejection of the Bush Presidency and the Congress who backed his political moves. They only selected Democrat because that is the only practical alternative.

Most candidates are about as different as say, Coke and Pepsi. Voters just got sick on Coke! Not because they want Pepsi, just no more Coke please!!

These Democrats don't think George Bush exceeded his authority, committed crimes, whatever...they just want to change places with him. They want to use the same authority to rule over us.

Instead of the Bush agenda, they will give us their agenda.

Example: Jack Murtha. Yes, he stood for change in Iraq. I'm grateful to him. But when FOX news starts broadcasting tapes of his meetings with undercover FBI agents in the Abscam scandal, I think we will all wish he was not a leader of the party.

Protectionism is the natural order of the day for both Republicans and now for Democrats.

Best wishes, thanks for the question.

that facts that you believe is bad because evidence can be found to support anything and once you've been satisfied they can go back to business as usual, the computer has us all pigeon holed for at least the whole current century it will take that long to get the knowledge of how we screw our selves with this government and the computerizing separated enough to get an honest evaluation of how to get a handle on the difference and know what I'm saying we only had computer working against us a short time but they got us pigeon holed for a whole century by having it it does no one any good to be screwed by our own appointed rep who only wan to stay out of the way of what ever is coming around so they don't get it on them , there is no political agenda that can't be fabricated to just squeeze money and that's all that is going to happen and their going to do it better and better til you run out of money the computer and government are going to get so good at it.~~~~~~~~~the ball game is different and until you see what the computer has done and what it will do you will not see in real time anything that can't be fabricated out of the depths of input that will be designed to defeat all who are on the wrong side of their desires to use any information and the behavioral sciences to give you a guilt trip to fabricate you right out of your own life

The 2 are far from being mutually exclusive. I don't think either term really applies.
