Because we like to take care of things. Cats are easy to take care of at home. dogs are fun to but they are a little bit more hard work. And fishes, are way too much work and way too less satisfaction. And reptiles are just not girls' things (at least for majority of girls!).

Because most cats are like fuzzy humans that can't speak English (unless they are really talented). Cats rock.

I think it is a matter of personal desire, not being male or female. We have two cats, one is crazy and the other is fat.
