Is there anyway I can get them to work? I think the problem is because of a handful of trouble making ant mofos. When I look at them, they just stare at me, and snicker.Are all modern ants like this, or what?

Shake it up a bit. Get them moving. If you bury a few they will be forced to dig their way out thus inspiring labor. Throw food in there too. they like to pull food underground.

put a predator in a thing next to them, like a spider , or tap them once in awhile, i dunno just make them scared of something. they dont dig because they know they have no natural predators or weather to hide from, if nothing killed ants in the wild why would they live underground? they are too confortable.
get their instincts goin.
